Reports about UPI ‘refund’ collect-request contact (Example Entity)

Received a call from someone claiming to be from my bank's 'refund department,' saying a previous failed transaction of ₹2,300 was being reversed and that I needed to approve a UPI request to receive it. Approved the request without reading it carefully, which actually authorized an outgoing payment of ₹2,300 from my account rather than a refund. Reported the incident to my bank and filed a complaint on the cybercrime portal the same day.

Listed an old washing machine for sale on a classifieds app. A 'buyer' messaged saying they had sent payment and shared what looked like a payment-received screenshot, then asked me to 'accept' a UPI request notification to confirm receipt. The notification was actually a collect request, not an incoming payment; I nearly approved it with my UPI PIN before noticing the amount field said 'requesting' rather than 'sending,' and cancelled it in time.
